The Book Traveler
Hi Friends,
The book journey is, for me, an inspiring thing. Here is letter 1 from my travel. Something that I have never done before. Writing a book is a lonely activity, according to my experience. It is all between me and my thoughts and considerations.
Sacrifice Activities
I am inviting you and others into my writing den. For some time, I resisted to start creating my manuscript. Because I have written books before, I am aware of the amount of work that is needed. I will inevitably have to sacrifice activities in my ordinary life for a shorter and longer time.
A Bubble
But it is not only the time. When you create, you enter a bubble where you are by yourself. In other words, it takes energy away from doing things I like. For example, I meditate every day. I need to have the force to do it. Especially when writing, I am so tired that I fall asleep instead of meditating. I like to watch crime mysteries on the television, but when overloaded with work, I zap around different TV programs. Occasionally, I am dozing away in front of the TV set.
Joy
However, I should not be complaining too much. It is also rewarding to create a book. I feel joy when I write. It is very peculiar. My experience is that the text makes itself. Beforehand, I cannot plan the verbal formulations. It is created in my head instantly, and I am in a flow. The tricky thing is to inspire yourself to transcend into that mode. I often need a few hours warming up to reach that level.
I can communicate with many people through my text, but the sad thing is that the communication is one-sided.
With this introduction, I have given you the background to my invitation to a book journey. I am not alone in my bubble and can share my writing experience with others. I also hope you have opinions about my disposition and the contents of the text.
The Book has two Parts
As I mentioned in my invitation, I have already started writing. Sending you letter 1, I am presently on my way. The book will have two parts; one section explains my psychological theory, and another talks about how to use my theory in different life situations. I have already finished the first part. It was reasonably easy to produce. It is well-known to me. However, there was also a challenge. My books about Motivational Work have focused on motivating clients and patients. This time, the perspective is how to use the theory as a person in everyday life and not as a staff member.
The Essence of Being a Private Individual
The essence of being a private individual is much broader. I can still help people, but my ambition is to help myself and help my family and friends. It is a total situation with other aspects than in a professional encounter.
Dumping emotions
I keep being fascinated by how writing about something makes the dilemmas more obvious and forces me to be more explicit with my ideas. It surprised me that I must deepen and expand my understanding of dumping emotions on another person. I have written several blogs about needing a protective suit when meeting clients.
Otherwise, there is a significant risk of being burnt out. In everyday life, you also meet individuals who try to dump their feelings on you. However, it is a much more complicated situation. Moreover, I detected that I needed to explain in detail how dumping works. As a result, I must write a whole new chapter that gave me new insights into the dynamics.
How to Continue
I have finished the first chapter on Motivational Work in everyday life. It is about couple relationships with case studies to show how you can improve your life in a relationship.
Concerning the other chapters about everyday life, I am still determining in what order I should present different life situations in which I can improve your well-being. I would be grateful if you could give me some feedback. The various chapters are:
- Giving myself life energy.
- Being a parent (children, teenagers, foster child, adoption child).
- Being a group member.
- Being a workgroup member,
- Being a member of a work organization.
I would appreciate it if you asked me questions. You can write in English, French, Danish, and Swedish.
There is much more to tell, but stopping here before my text is too long is a good idea.
All the best to you
Stay safe
Hope to see you soon.
Book Journey Letter 2 - Motivational Work
[…] In my first letter, I pointed out how being in a bubble and formulating sentences is a pleasure. However, I have been reminded of the dark side of writing. For many years, I have saved different cases, some stored on DVD. Two weeks ago, I put the DVD on my computer. […]
