Lectures

The leading idea concerning training in Motivational Work is dialogue. In other words, I see the lecture as an encounter between me and the audience with possibilities for us all to learn something new.

Hence, there is a parallel between the pedagogical situation and Motivational Work. Thus, the motivational worker uses himself in the existential meeting with the client, eye to face, face to face (Motivational Work, Part 1, pages 670-672).

Therefore, I do not use any PowerPoint presentations or have only one-way communication with the group. Instead, I strive to create a meeting with the audience and use questions and cases from the participants to illustrate the method. When appropriate, I will arrange role plays to deepen my understanding of Motivational Work further.

Feedback from participants:

  • The lecture gave me new hope and energy.
  • Listening to Per helped me see my clients differently, which was a relief.
  • Per´s idea that I could create a protective suit against burnout meant a lot to me.
  • The lecture always felt exciting, and there were no dull moments.
  • The lecture was not all about clients. I also learned how to reach out to my teenager

Supervision and Courses

Supervision or a course is an essential part of training in Motivational Work. If you want to deepen your knowledge of Motivational Work, this alternative is the best way. I will cover the Motivational Work more thoroughly than during lectures and help you integrate the method personally.

A group meets on several occasions. Each participant works with unmotivated clients and receives supervision from the group and me. When needed, I will utilize roleplaying if the group agrees to it.

Feedback from participants:

  • I can handle situations with unmotivated clients.
  • The most important thing for me is that I have a protective suit. It hinders me from getting burnt out.
  • For me, it is helpful to know how to speak with unmotivated clients.
  • Listening to the others in the group has given me more realistic demands on myself
